I absolutely love things that are beautiful, yet serve a purpose. This is how "Jour Joli" was born. It basically means "Everyday Beauty" I needed a holder of some kind for my bedside table to hold my cell phone, ipod, etc.. So, I figured why not make it beautiful, and something that will help me to a.)always have a place for my phone b.)listen to music c.) watch movies on my phone or ipod, or d.) to hold other things, like my business cards. I made it with spaces on either side for cords for charging. It also has silver little arms for holding the phone/ipod in place so it won't slide off. The vintage rose paper is over 100 years old. It is the original. These can be custom ordered with monograms, words/names, different themes, masculine styled, and whatever ideas you might have.. I love hearing other people's ideas! The silver has been aged, but can be made in a bright silver. It's made from non-toxic, lead-free silver. Each one will be slightly different as these are hand cut, hand crafted.

I actually named these vintage earrings, Puffy clouds because they are the slightest hint of blue. Made from vintage fabrics, they also have vintage rhinestone and pearl accents. They are very lightweight and comfortable to wear. Reg. 15.00, on sale today only 12.00.

Today's sale is all about the rings! I hand make each ring from antique/vintage sources. Old abalone seashell pearl buttons, coins from England, an old brooche, vintage rhinestones...these are what make up the unique rings. They are somewhat rustic, and not perfectly round due to the handmade nature of each one. They are one of a kind pieces, and I love wearing unusual jewelry that can't be purchased just anywhere. I've neglected my poor little blog for far too long. So, to kick things off, we are playing Vingo again, and in a big way! I have some awesome prizes for the winner. I have beautiful sheet music from 1901 that I've been holding onto for just the right piece. Well, I finally found it! This piece is called "Pedal Marks" named after words on the sheet music. It's made from vintage pearls, cut glass beads,and the pendant from 1901. It was the only design like it on the music, so it's a one-of-a-kind. It measures approx. 23" with the charm.

Where does time go?

I recently got new carpet in my studio, and so I feel like a fresh start. I had to literally pack everything as if I were moving. I never thought about what a huge job it is to get new carpet. Wow! Anyway, now that it's over, I'm slowly adding things back in so I can get back to work. I keep looking for things that I know I have, but I have no idea where they are now. I don't love that feeling, but I do like my new carpet. As soon as I have everything decorated again, I'll be posting pictures of it.
I finally got to go antiquing with my sweet friend, Abbie the other day. We had a blast, and I found a very cool piece of rusted tin architecture for my wall. I haven't decided about how I will display it, but I knew it was mine the minute I saw it.
We have a favorite booth at one of the shops we go to, and it never disappoints. She always has amazing idea for decorating. One thing she did was to use tea stained cheesecloth to make a "skirt" for her mannequin. I love that look.
I've been busy making some new pieces from aged metals and crystals. I love making these. They go with just about anything. They look good with just a t-shirt, or dressed up. They're all on the website under "divine designs".

Colorado snippet (shockingly, no mountain shots)

Just a few shots from my recent trip to Colorado. Some statues from one of my favorite stores, buds about to blossom on a tree, and of course, my dessert at Cinzetti's(unbelievably good Italian restaurant. Google it. If there's one near you-go. Now.) I couldn't believe they had tiramisu on the dessert bar! I was in heaven!! There was also an ultra cool tea shop with a tea wall in downtown Fort Collins. The owner was very knowledgable and told us all kinds of neat tea facts. Above the tea wall, there was this cool art done by a local artist. We asked for coconut chai tea, but they didn't carry it. I'll have to get some from Zhena's Gypsy tea soon since I'm about out. It is my all-time, year round favorite. Apparently, you can buy it in bulk there at a reasonable price (so my friend,Jill tells me) She loves it as much as I do.

Granting Hope...

Granting Hope is a ministry that helps bring comfort to those who have lost a child. We are working together to do just that with our new line of jewelry called, Granting Hope pendants. Each pendant is a custom design that's primary goal is to preserve memories in a tangible way. Each glass vial has a removable lid, so that extra things can be added on arrival. These are made in the hopes that they will bring a small amount of comfort. A portion of the proceeds will also help benefit Granting Hope Ministries. Check out their blog, and see what all they do to help others.
These are here, if you'd like to order one. Some ideas to add would be, a small dried flower, a small photo, a photocopy of a hand or footprint scaled down, words to a song, etc. I will work with you as best as I can on getting just what you'd like to make it special.

Not bad for 5 bucks!

I have always wanted a large, sparkly Eiffel tower, and now I have one, and for only 5.oo! Yay!
Here's how I did it. You go to Michael's and buy this...

It's even prettier in person. I couldn't get a good picture for some reason. I started off by putting it together and then glueing it with hot glue to give it extra strength. Then, I mixed together pink & linen acylic paints. I then used a sparkle glaze over that, and added pink crushed crystals all over. It's pretty tall too. Love, love, love it! I may just have to go back to Michael's and try some in other colors. I didn't even read the directions, and I put it together in less than 30 minutes. So, go get one and have some fun! I mean, 5.00? Easy projects, reasonable $ = happy me!! Oh, and it's made of wood too!

For Valentine's Day, what better way to celebrate it than by helping a family who are trying to adopt a baby girl? I have teamed up with this family's brother-in-law, Scott Coons, who is the designer. He designed this exclusive logo for a t-shirt that the proceeds go to help with their adoption. You can check it out here. I went to college with them, and I'm happy to offer this custom logo in a necklace as well. A portion of the proceeds will also go to help them with their adoption. It can be customized on reverse. I have decided the way to kick off this new design, which is already on my website under "Specialty Custom" is to have a raffle. I have done raffles before for good causes, and they're always a lot of fun. All the proceeds will go to the Abernathy family from this raffle for Valentine's Day. I know this is my blog about my jewelry, but I wanted to let you know about something cool I'm doing on my other blog, Through the Vintage Garden, I'm doing a daily post update on my progress. If you want to join for free, Ivillage is doing a 6 week weight loss program starting today through Valentines Day. Leslie Sansone hosts this, and I love her. I have tons of her dvd's and they really do work for anybody. All I have to do is be consistent, so that's the plan. If I post my progress daily, it'll help me stay on track. I hope! P.s. This dvd pictured is one of my favorite workouts. It's a different one each day and even comes with a menu for the week. I'm starting with this one.

Happy New Year!!!

The end of the year is always a little sad as I reminsce over time passing by. I always get sentimental thinking about all the changes that ocuur from one year to the next. It's a part of my personality, I guess. I love the holidays, and being with family, and it's always sad to go back to life in our routines. Taking down the tree, turning off the Christmas music, all make me melancholy. Not to be a total downer, there is a lot I like about it. For example, I love making lists, and this always inspires me to make my New Year's Resolutions. I have, oh-so-many this year! It's good though because I'm super excited.I feel a new chapter, a new beginning, a clean slate, with a new year. What are some of your resolutions? My top 3 are: Read my Bible more, lose weight & get better organized. These are my personal goals, not family or business. I have many categories! Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you to all my customers and friends for another great year. I really love what I do and I'm so extremely grateful for all the encouragement and support. I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed 2011!

It's Vingo time again! For those of you that remember the last time, it's a lot of fun. The ring part, I hand shaped in various sizes from about 7-8. I can custom make any size you like though. I will be having many new rings like these in the near future. The Gypsies are coming...

I've had a few exciting things happening with my little business lately. One of them is, at the Fall Flair show in Destin, the Destin Log stopped by and I actually had a little mention with a picture of Juliette(my gorgeous statue that displays my jewelry). That was pretty neat.
On the jewelry front, I have a new design in the "Vintage Gypsy" line, but this one has an Indian feel(as in Bollywood not cowboys and..) I will admit I am slightly addicted to Bollywood movies, and have actually gotten past most of the silly dancing/song scenes that they love to add. What is with the same woman's high pitched singing voice dubbed into all the songs? Still don't get that, but anyway...
This style of necklace is some of my favorite. I have several in different stages of production, and hope to have them ready soon. I've named this one "Veer~Zaara" since it was my first Bollywood introduction. I still love that movie the best so far. Ialso have...rings! These are not the rings I had before, these are rings that I am designing and making from various vintage metals. I don't have a pic yet, but, I'm hoping to have them soon. I will be having these and the Vintage Gypsy line on display at my upcoming shows. Email me if you want to know where I'll be to see them in person. The picture does not do this one justice.

Violin Church House....ideas??

I have always wanted to play the violin. I actually have one that my sweet Daddy bought me. One of my "to do's" is to learn to play the violin one day. I guess that was my inspiration behind my little "Violin Church." It's so small and dainty.It's 4" tall at the steeple and 3" long. The inner dimensions to hold things is 2.5"x 1.5" I actually designed it to hold votive candles, then realized I made it a tiny bit too small to fit the battery operated votive candle.{insert disappointed look here}So, on to plan b. I went and got my business cards, and oila!- They fit! Cute for sure. Anybody have any other ideas? I thought it could hold rings, tea bags, sugar packets, miniature flower vase, a roll of stamps(cute on a desk),stash of hershey's kisses, post it notes...
The sheet music is from the late 1800's and the tattered lace on the front is antique.
I'd love to hear what you would use it for?

Next up is my purebred dog jewelry. I can make any pet you like as a custom order. As of right now, I have about 20 different breeds. Just email me what dog or cat you have, or email me a picture of your own pet, and I can make you a special piece to wear. Rhinestones and crystals can be added to any design if you prefer. It can also be color, or black and white. It comes on a ball chain or ribbon, your choice.

I have gotten into a button jewelry frenzy! I recently acquired some very old, mother of pearl & abalone seashell buttons. The ideas just keep coming since I think these sweet little buttons deserve to be displayed once again. They are simple beauty. The earrings I have made today are long and romantic. They have a swarovski crystal in the middle. You will not believe how light and airy these are! They are so comfortable and yet add quite the feminine touch to any outfit. They are approx.3" long with the largest button measuring 3/4". ~20.00 with free shipping! I have a bracelet I will be making in this same style coming soon.

Camera troubles..I've had a few..

(One of my last pics before camera died-Sedona, Slide Rock Park)
After being on vacation, having new things to share, a totally new design, my camera decides to call it quits. I'm sad! I'm working on getting a replacement, but I'm not sure how long that will take. Sooooo, guess I'll just tell ya instead. I took a class while on vacation about cutting glass, and how to use decorative glass in different ways. I learned how to make custom business card holders. I have 2 made so far, and more in the works. I love these!! They could also double as a beautiful ring holder too. I really am so excited about these and wish I could show them. The other new designs are made from seashells. Generally, I think jewelry made from seashells looks, well.. cheap. I have never really cared for it, especially growing up and living in Florida. It's in all the souvenier shops. However, I really like this new design with the seashells. I hope you'll like them too. :) I took a walk on the beach, and found them with my sisters while they were here visiting. If nothing else, they make a nice memento of a fun time with them.
As soon as I get a new camera, I'll be posting new pics. Hopefully, soon!

Having been sick at the exact same time when normally I'd be gearing up for Mother's Day was bad timing this year. Right before I was to add my Valentine jewelry, my computer decided to crash-(more bad timing.) Sooooo, I'm having a big ole' trunk sale for Mother's Day to show you several new items I have in stock. I have been playing in the resin, which is always fun, but I did something I didn't know would work-I used real, pressed flowers. I'm fairly new to resin, so I had no idea if it would be just a big flop or brilliant. As you can see, they came out wonderfully! I'm so thrilled! I have a childhood memory of a dinner plate size coaster my mom had on our coffee table for forever. It was hard and see through and had flowers and a butterfly. I used to sit and stare at that, rub my hands over it, and wonder how they got that in there. The other day, out of the blue, I had to laugh because it hit me-RESIN!!
So anyway, all has been added to the website with the sale price already marked. Just go to the website, click on the tab on the left that says "Divine Designs" and you will find them there.
Happy Mother's Day to all the fabulous Moms out there! My Mom is without a doubt the best Mom in the world to me, and I thank God for her everyday. Love you Mom!!! Vintage Iron on Monograms & French ads....

So I found these iron on monograms at a little antique store in North Ga. the last time I was up at my Aunt's get-away-from-it-all cabin in the mountains. I knew what I'd use them for the minute I laid eyes on them. Getting around to actually doing it was another matter. I think I could make jewelry for a year or two without leaving my studio, but where's the fun if you can't hunt down interesting, cool new stuff? I would go crazy. I get an adrenaline rush everytime a new idea hits. The time has finally come for these sweet letters, and these are very limited as they are the real deal. By that, I mean "really old". I lost several due to fragile, tearing paper. I do have several more than these, probably 20-25 total. Some are upper case, some lower. Some are bigger (approx. 1") and some are just larger charms (7/8") If you're interested in a letter you don't see here, let me know, and I'll see what I have. I hope to have them all added to the website soon, but I also know I don't always get to it as fast as I plan on. The reverse of these is maps of Paris. They aren't vintage. They are the maps we used while we were there. That's why you see some with circles on them because it was on our scheduled visit.
Secondly, there are vintage French replica ad jewelry. These are each one different sizes. I will, hopefully, have these posted individually on the website soon.

Isn't she gorgeous?? I found her recently in an antique/boutique shop, and new I had to have this for displaying jewelry in my studio. It would be awesome at shows too, so I may be brave and take her out. It's seriously heavy though....

I have been following this young man's story ever since my sister and her family met him. His name is Adier, and he is from Sudan. You may have heard of his story as he is one of the "Lost boys" that fled from the genocide there in Sudan. After many trials and near-death experiences, Adier survived, and came to America as a refugee. He became a Christian, and loves the Lord. He is now 24, and would like to be married to his long love, Monica, from Sudan, and bring her here. His problem is he does not have enough money for her dowry, which is paid in cows. We are trying to help him meet his deadline. It is March 15th. I am donating this piece of jewelry to raffle off so we can have a small part in helping him raise the funds he needs. The Gypsies have arrived.....

Am I on a gypsy kick or what?! I really love using old pieces and figuring out a way to turn them into a really unique piece of jewelry. I have travelled as far as Kansas City (in the snow and ice, no less),England, Colorado, Georgia, and every hole in the wall place near me(Fl), to find some truly antique and wonderful pieces to use. Hence the "gypsy" name on everything. I can sorta relate, and I love the funky designs that gypsies were always known for. Everything had dangling bits of silver, crystal, and basic finds from all their travels. So, that sums up this jewelry perfectly. It's little bits and pieces from my travels, and a little piece of me comes with it. Each one holds a special memory for me, and I love that. Maybe you will feel that too when you wear them.

These two pieces are some of my very favorites! It all started when I made my first "Vintage Gypsy" jewelry around Christmas. When my Mom saw it, she just freaked, and I knew I was on to something. I ended up giving her the first one for Christmas, and then I started looking for things to make more. I go all over the place looking for unusual objects,and vintage pieces to make these. Each one is named, unique, and one-of-a-kind. They are made with a combination of old and new. Mostly old, but some pieces are new or at least newer. A very happy place....

I recently found the cutest shop in Niceville, Fl. that my friend, Abbie, recommended I visit. I fell in love, and had a great time checking it out yesterday. The atmosphere and music were perfectly vintage. It's settled in a small cottage type house, and is called "The Gopher Hole." The name gives you no indication of what you'll find there. It was amazing! I know this place will be a new favorite with me for sure. If you live in the area, you should definitely check it out. One of the owners was there, and she is a sweetie. Small towns are funny places. We found out through chatting a bit that we've both known each other's families for years. She and her Mom and brothers ran another Niceville antique store, "The Little Old Lady" for over 20 years. That used to be my favorite place, and I knew her brother from there. She also knew my Dad. Pretty neat...Anyway, this place is adorable. I asked if I could blog about it, as I always do when I find a cool, new place. Here's a little sample....

2nd annual trip to the Curious Sofa

I've decided that every year when I visit my sister in Kansas City, I will not miss a trip to the Curious Sofa. Every time I go, it looks like a different store. It is such a fun place to go. They use things in such unusual ways that are everyday items. For example, sheet music covered boxes, I loved them! They also used old newspapers to make paper chain "chandeliers." Cool ideas everywhere you look. I always buy a few things as souveniers each time. This time I got a typewriter key ring with my husband's initals, a neat little journal book, and an old postcard from France. I have new items of my own to list! I have a line called, Vintage Gypsy. Each piece is made from antique fun pieces with chains, buttons, unique found objects and more. I have several "new" pieces to add sometime this week. Each are one-of-a-kind. But for now, enjoy browsing around the Curious Sofa.

Broken China & a little Sound of Music

I made a necklace out of one of my favorite plates that met an untimely death. I seriously love this pattern, so I'm so happy to see it live on as something beautiful. It's made from an antique Blue Willow plate. Have a friend who loves this pattern? Why not get them a unique Christmas gift that is personal and special.
It comes with the chunky chain.
Also unique is my Swiss cross/Edelweiss necklace straight from Switzerland. My husband has a friend who just returned from a trip there, and he gave me this beautiful paper. I immediately saw it as a necklace. The word underneath means cross. The reverse side features the Country's flower, edelwiess. You may remember the song from the Sound of Music. It happens to be one of my all-time favorite movies.
We just finished watching Little Women, the newer version. It's my daughter's favorite. We love, love, love it. It makes me want to make popcorn and cranberry garlands like we always did at Christmas time. It's the simple things that stand out. I couldn't name the presents I received every year, but I always had fun making memories of the things we did together. Enjoy your special memories, and don't forget to make new ones.

Christmas is coming!

Hi everyone! Are you as excited as I am that Christmas is just around the corner? Yes, I know that causes a certain amount of stress, but hey, it's time to enjoy the season. I want to celebrate Jesus' birthday, the fact that He even came to die just amazes me. It is the greatest gift we could ever be given. He gave Himself. In the midst of shopping, wrapping, decorating, cooking/baking, I hope you do take the time to remember why we do it all. It gets so trite to hear "Jesus is the reason for the season", so I don't want to hear that without truly feeling the meaning.
My Mom has a Nativity that sits on a small round table. My daughter's favorite thing to do is sit and play with it. She could play with it for hours on end. She always talks for the characters, and acts out the story. It is such a beautiful thing to watch. I love it.

Ever since my husband and I visited there last October, I knew I wanted to make some custom, Jane Austen jewelry. After talking via email with Becca, who has been so great to work with, my jewelry is now exclusive to the Centre! It is such a priviledge to have my pieces for sale there. I have been on the newsletters for over 2 years, and it was what prompted my husband and I to visit Bath.

I tell you, I think I'm living in some kind of fake world where I keep pretending it's fall. I live in FLORIDA. We don't get fall until Dec.1st. Well, not really, but I'm so ready to feel a crisp chill in the air and see leaves swirling in the air when I open the front door. I've been wanting a scrolly, white, Mary Engelbreit type screen door for about 5 years. I live on a cul-de-sac, and I like to pretend it's my little "cottage out of the wind and the way". My ever so sweet husband doesn't have my vision. At all. Not even a tiny bit. He wants a glass storm door with a deadbolt. I think I might surprise him and just do it myself. I wonder if after he actually sees it what he'll think. Do you read this blog from work, babe? We'll soon find out....dun da dun...tune in to see if I will be stuck behind a glass prison with mosquitos doing a kamakaze into their reflection, or...a beautiful white, cottage style, vintage screen door that fits me soooo well....hmmmmm. I guess that had nothing to do with Vingo, but to be honest, I was getting bored just saying the word. I felt the need to express my feelings at the moment.
Anyway.... if you win..yell Vingo!! Check your words. I'll be checking them soon to see if we have a winner. By the way, this teacup is an extremely delicate porcelain that came from Germany. It was so paper thin, I was afraid to touch it. Elaine from the formerly Ivy Leaf Tea Parlour is the owner of this gorgeous teacup. She taught me that the thinner the porcelain, the more valuable the cup. Neat!

The fifth word is...

I also wanted to show you my latest creation...it's the new addition to the Sheer Bijou line. It's called, "Croix de perle" and is about 2" in height and 1.5" wide at the widest part of the cross. This is a one-of-a-kind piece. I custom made the glass behind the cross in three sections soldered together. It has 6 vintage rhinestones as well.

I made that up :) Vingo is "vintage themed bingo" and we're gonna play! I really like Bingo, and I found a bingo game at a yard sale this past weekend. It got me thinking that it would be fun to play word bingo like I played once with Make Mine Pink. Thanks, Roxie!(You gotta check out her fabulous lights! I love them!)

I'm finally getting to post pictures of my give-away prizes for this Saturday's drawing. I'm so excited! Who doesn't love a great apron? Especially if you're a vintage chic, which I most definately am! I actually love to wear my vintage aprons, and love the ones with the pocket on the front. They make great ipod holders. That's what you call an updated classic! I also made a vintage french-styled necklace to go with it. Pink was the color this time around, and I don't normally make a lot of pink. It fits with the retro theme nicely. I used an estate sale vintage crystal for the dangle charm, french styled papers and a diamond dusting for extra glam. I also included a cottage roses glass magnet and my favorite apple pie recipe on a french library card.
As a side note, vintage aprons will be a new addition to my line very soon! I'll be blogging about them in the next week or so.

New designs~ miniature candle "houses"

Well, I didn't exactly have my July sale as planned, but I will have it in August. It's coming-I promise!
My new "houses" are made from beveled glass. I used old photos of churches I bought in Colorado. I also used antique sheet music with a Christmas theme, "Peace on earth." The house is pretty large at almost 9" tall including the steeple. The sides are 4 inches square. I left it completely open in case you wanted to use a large candle in it. I used 2 battery operated flickering votives, and it looked very nice in the dark. I'll be making more of these, probably smaller. Each one will be one-of-a-kind. The postage stamps and letters are all authentic.

Christmas in July sale coming soon!

These are just 2 of the latest custom orders I did yesterday. Getting to design your own piece is fun, and you can create a design that expresses your personality!

I wanted to change out my July 4th post, but I really am not ready to reveal my newest creation. It's coming soon though! All I can say is that it is something I have never done before, and will be perfect for Christmas. I'm planning to leave for Colorado on Friday for the weekend. I'll be back Monday if everything goes well. When I get back I'll plan a give-away, and a fun to do about this new addition. I'll also do a "Christmas in July" sale. So keep an eye out for that too.

I love America! I'm proud of my country. I'm sad to see it changing soo quickly, and not for the good. I'm glad I still have the freedom to speak my mind, and stand up for what I believe in. This country is great, but it was only great because we loved God, and put Him first. Our country was founded because of Him. Our history is being changed if not erased all together. You have the right to disagree, but what you do not have is the right to think your opinion is worth more than someone else's. We are all equal in the sight of God, and will answer to Him for our thoughts and actions. It will be a sad day if we ever lose that right that was what soo many men and women died for. We are still free. Stand up for what you believe and do not be afraid if it's not popular. I'm so tired of seeing people bow down and sacrifice their rights just because the other voices are louder, more popular, or "politically correct." They are not the only voice in America! Stand for truth! Stand for Freedom! Most importantly,stand with God! I still think America's the best country in the world, and that God has blessed us beyond anything we deserve.
I'm adding a video for you. It really touched me, and made me even more proud to be an American. I hope you enjoy it, and have a wonderful, safe Fourth of July.

I love French words. It just makes anything sound better. Bijou means "jewel" which is just so beautiful to me. On our quick little trip to Paris last year, this guy was obviously angry at another guy and was letting him have it. I didn't care. It sounded like he was telling a love story. I really do think it's a beautiful language and culture. If you're in the good areas, of course. On the train there, I thought someone had planned an elaborate hoax to the world about Paris. It was filthy, ugly, very graffitied, and looked run down. Then, like magic, it starts to morph into a beautiful landscape and glittering lights. What a great city.
This new line of jewelry is completely different than anything I've ever made before. The name "Sheer Bijou" suggests you can see through it. That's exactly what it is-completely see through. I used antique jewelry, buttons,broches etc. on the outside of the glass instead of in it. I buy a lot of estate sale/antique jewelry that is too large to go under glass, but that I've always wanted to use. Here's my answer to that dilema. What's really amazing about it is how it goes with everything. Whatever you have on, it's going to show through the glass.
Each one has a beautiful name that's either French or classic.
