Oh Darcy!

If you are in our Pride & Prejudice book club, you should be finishing up chapters 11 & 12 this weekend. I confess I am still behind, but I have my tea cup, and comfy chair ready for this evening to get caught up. I'm looking forward to it. Thank you to those of you who have kept up soo well. This book club is plenty open for discussion. Please leave your thoughts if you wish. Also, if you have a facebook account, there is a great Jane Austen club there you may want to join. They keep you informed of all the current events and show schedules. I don't know how many of you watched the Pbs Masterpiece Theatre this summer, but they did all Jane Austens' movies (BBC version) every Sunday night. I taped everyone! I love watching them. Has anyone watched Cranford? I loved it! It's also BBC. You can get it off Netflix too. Is anyone in the Jane Austen society? I've been a memeber for 2 years and they send out the most beautiful newsletters. Click here to join free.
I have often thought about making some Jane Austen themed jewelry. What do you think? Should I try it? I wanted to send some to the society and see if they would be interested in carrying it in their shop. Any suggestions??

Have a lovely JA weekend everyone~

Flea Market Sale!

"French Rooster" approx. 1"x 2"

"Ruby" 1"x3"

"Pink Irish" 1"x3"

Happy Friday! I'm adding three designs today for sale on the Flea Market.
For those of you unfamiliar with this style of jewelry, it is all completely handmade with non-toxic, lead-free, silver and glass. The pieces are all double sided with french or poetry on reverse. I love vintage and french style. They are made with vintage and replica paper, lace, ribbon, cards, etc. For example, the pendant named "Ruby" has vintage bookplate paper from 1904 and a postmark from 1926-all original.
These prices are good for today only. Please email me or leave a comment if you would like to buy now through Paypal and I will send you an invoice. These are each one-of-a-kind, so it is a first come-first served basis. Please email me if you have any questions: ellenay@cox.net. The calm before the storm.....

Mia

Taz

Molly

Ruby

Living in Northwest Florida, you learn real quick not to ever think a storm will follow the projected path. This crazy Fay must like Florida because she's checking out every inch of it! Last night, I enjoyed the sunset with a nice breeze blowing and a bright blue sky. It was calm and peaceful and a beautiful sunset. It was definitely the calm before the storm. This morning I awoke to cloudy skies, wind and rain whistling through the trees with forecasters telling me it will get much worse. Yipee. Our animals started acting really weird last night. It reminded me of the stories I've heard of animals sensing a storm and running away to find shelter. In our family, we have 3 kids, 1 dog (who thinks she owns us), 1 bunny, 1 bird, and 2 spoiled hamsters. It's an interesting mix. Sometimes it feels like a pet store when the hamsters are running on their squeaky wheels like their tales' are on fire and the bird is screeching and the dog is barking at the wind. Calgon-take me away!! The bunny is inside in a special cage til the storm is over. This is causing Mia, who didn't realize we had a bunny in the side garden, to be completely hysterical. I can't tell if she's excited to see a new friend (tale wagging, whining) or if she's picturing her on a plate with a napkin round her neck. Either way, it has added to the pet store craziness in my house. So, cabin fever may set in with Fay planning to be around through Monday. Hopefully, lots of tea kettles will whistle and I'll have lots of pretty new jewelry to show for it.

Trying to stay sane....

Pretty Life....

On the movie, Runaway Bride, there's this song that stuck in my head called "I never saw blue like that before." I added it here because I just love it. I thought I'd show you a few pics I took today of random things. It all started this morning when I looked out my kitchen window and saw a hummingbird coming to my feeder. I tried my zoom lens which didn't work out too well. Can you find the hummingbird in my tree? Hint: It has a ruby red throat.
I also posted about a sunflower garden my mom and I found on the side of the road which turned out to be a water payment facility. I said then I was inspired to plant my own sunflower garden. So, here are a few of mine that just started to bloom. So pretty!
On to jewelry, I have several new designs to show over the next few days. I even picked one out to add to my Friday Flea Market that will be on sale Friday only.
About Pride and Prejudice, I knew I would have a hard time keeping up, but I promise to be better! We are supposed to be reading chapters 9-10 before this Friday. I plan on being back on track by then!

Hugs,
Lori

Jetons d' Amour~Love Tokens

My dad found these great circa 1924 metal transit tokens in an antique shop a few months back. They are from Honolulu. I knew I would think up a way to use them, so I put them aside until it hit me. Yesterday, I came across them again and I realized they would make the coolest, vintage charm bracelet! I used only interesting and unique vintage buttons with the coins and I really love the way it came out. Here I go again wanting to keep everything I make, but I know the drill. I'll make something tomorrow or the next day that I'll love just as much and the pile grows! I can't keep it all, can I? No, seriously, can I? O.k, o.k!!. The bracelet is now in my etsy shop. The bracelet and findings are all made from sterling silver. Thanks, daddy! You have a great eye for cool stuff!
Oh! I missed blogging about our P&P book club Friday. We read chapters 3 and 4 (cue Mr.Darcy) and are now on 5 and 6. I love this book! Join in if you haven't already. There's still time to catch up easily. And,go on over to the tearoom blog and comment if you want to be entered for the free tea give-away I do each week. Darcy and tea make a great combo, don't ya think?

Have a great week everyone!
