Country Roads

View from some of the back roads.

Antiquing Day

Today I went on a country drive taking all the back roads to one of my favorite shops, Alyssa's Antique Depot. I always seem to find something there to fall in love with. I took some pictures along the way with the final stop being Alyssa's. It was such a nice day. I'll be posting some new designs shortly as well as giving you a look at the new custom gift that will be included with each order. Take some time to really enjoy yourself this week. Take a drive and roll down the windows. Go antiquing with a girlfriend where the only rule is to stop at any shop or cafe that looks interesting. Make yourself a cup of tea and use your best china. And lastly, hug those dear to your heart and tell them how much they mean to you.

Simple Pleasures

This butterfly visited us long enough for us to enjoy his beauty and snap a quick picture. He was huge! Probably measuring about 5" across.

Flowers for Londa

My beautiful sister, Londa gave me this antique gravy boat and saucer just before she moved away. I filled it with flowers from my garden this morning and thought of her. I miss you sissie. xo

Garden Gate

I went out to my small garden today and felt the first breezes of fall in the air. It was about 60 degrees and felt wonderful. My morning glory has decided it wanted to take over my wreath on the fence and I love it when the garden is unplanned and natural like this. There were about 20 bumblebee's everywhere humming and working away trying to savour this last bit of summer blooms. I will be changing the garden over to cold weather plants in about 2 weeks and say goodbye to my favorite zinnias and wildflowers until we meet again next spring.

Sparkly Desk

I just loved the way these glittering, vintage jewels sparkled under my work light on my desk. They are waiting to be added to my jewelry to give it that extra something special. I search high and low for the most beautiful vintage jewelry to use. I find them at estate sales, goodwill, flea markets, even antique stores. I've made friends with my shop in town and she generously sets aside broken pieces for me to purchase at a discount. Soon they will be dangling from a collage piece, broken china or wherever they look best. Watch for them coming soon.

Mia

I just had to introduce my sweetie pie, Mia. She loves to sit on my feet (not at) while I'm working. Today she's a little sad because I made her sit on the couch in the studio instead. She looks mean, but honestly, she is the biggest baby. She can't bring herself to even look at the vacuum cleaner! She takes it in stride when the kids' love on her when she's really not in the mood and gives out "kisses" and hand shakes when anyone wants them (or doesn't for that matter!) She's a womderful part of our family and makes us smile.

Ellenay Designs

Today I'm starting a new ritual into the new and exciting world of blogland. I have envied everyone else having one and sort of felt like the kid on the school playground not getting picked to play until last. Of course, it's my own fault for not having made the time to actually start one. So, here I am after all. Hopefully, you will enjoy it. Kick ball anyone?
